Testosterone Causes Hair Loss |
Hair Loss
On average, men with male pattern baldness have the same testosterone levels as those men with a full head of hair. For the most part, baldness is determined by your genetics. Hair follicles in the skin will convert testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). The body only needs DHT in small doses though, so too much DHT can lead to hair loss and acne. That is one of many reasons our clinic recommends
injectable testosterone for most patients vs. topical testosterone. The transdermal process required for the topical testosterone to permeate the skin can cause higher production of DHT compared to the injectable testosterone. The additional DHT can therefore lead to unnecessary side effects.
Hair Loss Treatment (PRP)
