Testosterone Cream |
Testosterone Creams
Testosterone creams are not used for treatment of hypogonadism (low testosterone) as often as other delivery methods. An example of a testosterone cream is AndroForte® 5, which is applied daily to the scrotum. Testosterone cream doesn’t have the same success rate as testosterone injections and it carries a lot more risk factors.
Side Effects of Testosterone Cream
According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, topical testosterone, that has to be absorbed by a transdermal (through the skin) process, can cause the following side effects:
- Decreased sexual desire
- Breathing problems, especially during sleep
- Difficulty urinating
- Nausea & vomiting
- Yellow or darkened skin
- Changes in ability to smell or taste
- Swelling of hands, feet, ankles or lower legs
- Headache
- Nervousness
- Depression
- Acne
Not Worth The Risk
It is our opinion that the benefits do not out weigh the risk factors when it comes to testosterone cream, so we do not offer testosterone cream to our patients. There are much more effective ways to boost your testosterone levels that carry much less risk for the patient and those around him.
